Meet ORE Board members and Administrative Team
The Olds Regional Exhibition, formerly Olds Agricultural Society, is considered to be one of the essential pillar organizations in Olds Alberta. The dedicated volunteer Board members and our staff are committed to providing a valuable experience to assure that each event meets or exceeds ORE's quality expectations.

Meghan Black
Meghan BlackMeghan originally hails from a small town in New Brunswick where their family operates a small cow/calf operation. Growing up, she was very involved within the 4-H program as well as a number of National Junior Associations. It's that involvement that led Meghan to Alberta in the summer of 2014 where she first began working for the Canadian Hereford Association. She is also proud to have worked for the Canadian Simmental Association and currently works for Bohrson Marketing Services.

Over the last three years Meghan worked in the Olds area and more recently has made east of town her homebase. She was always heavily involved in the community she grew up in, so becoming more active within the town of Olds and the Olds Regional Exhibition was something she certainly looked forward to.

The agriculture industry is where Meghan's heart lies. She looks forward to different agriculture events and junior shows that she can assist as an integral organizational member or volunteer. Meghan also is a member of the Bashaw Show Committee with a focus on the Canadian All Breeds Program.

Darrell Hickman
Darrell HickmanDarrell Hickman and his family moved to this beautiful area about 4 years ago. Along with my wife Leila, and children Avary, Kenzie and Mason, they operate Stone Gate Farm west of Olds. A change of employment and a strong desire for a view brought them to the area, as they knew the agriculture community and mindset of this community would be a great fit for our family. Leila works at Olds College as an instructor in the Ag school, and Darrell works for Trouw Nutrition based out of Olds, so their connection to the agriculture community runs through all facets of their lives. The Hickmans operate a small purebred beef operation, showing cattle across North America and selling genetics to many countries. Their connections to the primary agriculture community, and desire to give back are what they are about! Darrell looks forward to working with a great group of people to continue building the presence of the Olds Regional Exhibition in the local community, as well as the Western Canadian community.

Ciara Mattheis
Ciara MattheisCiara joined ORE in 2012 and is proud to serve as a director at large. She has a passion for livestock and sharing that passion with youth and others in the community. She is proud to serve with such a longstanding agricultural society and looks forward to many more years being a part of this great Regional Exhibition right in the community of Olds.

Ciara and her husband, along with their 2 young children, have a small ranch they are building from the ground up between Olds and Didsbury. They offer a large variety of equine services to the community and look forward to what the future holds for their ranching dreams. When Ciara isn't on the farm, she is at the office as manager of the Canadian Maine-Anjou Association or helping her kids pursue new passions through programs in their community.

Tim Matthews
Tim MatthewsTim Matthews and his family moved their cattle ranch west of Calgary to the Olds area in 2004. Tim is the owner and operator of Riverstone Cattle Company, a purebred Angus, Limousin and Simmental livestock operation. Tim served many years as a volunteer board member for the Calgary Stampede Beef Cattle committee and is now involved and volunteers with the Olds Minor Hockey as part of the coaching team.

Olds Regional Exhibition has become integral part of the Matthews family and the Riverstone operation. For many years the Matthews have exhibited cattle at the many ORE evens and functions and the facility, hospitality and sense of community is second to none during these outstanding events. Riverstone also proudly hosts annual sales with the exhibition and finds the service and experience exceptional.

Tim is excited to be a part of such an inspiring and innovative group of volunteers and staff.

Donna Smith
Donna SmithDonna has invested decades into Olds Regional Exhibition as a volunteer that dates back to the mid-eighties as the Livestock Committee Secretary and a leader in one of the province's largest summer livestock shows. Her annual performance resulted in winning the Western Canadian Fairs award for Volunteer of the Year and Livestock Committee of the Year in the early '90s! This passion for livestock is evident today as Donna plays a very important role for programming including sponsorship, entry analysis, exhibitor packages, livestock office management and hospitality. Donna has instilled a sense of volunteerism in her family as it is the best way to contribute to growing and vibrant communities. This can best be showcased through her role as the Olds Farmer's Market Volunteer Market Manager for the last six years. Additionally, she is a Calgary Stampede Alumni Volunteer, an active member of the Harmattan Community Center and dedicated many years as a Leader, Assistant Leader and Volunteer of the Eagle 4-H Beef Club.

ORE dedicated the Commercial Kitchen in her honour and provided official naming as the Grandma Donna Kitchen which honors her tireless work at providing hospitality to thousands who visited the Cow Palace. Since 2006, many homemade meals were served out of the galley style kitchen and with the new business platform, ORE could elevate their guest experience and create new revenue generation. When Donna isn't working or volunteering, she enjoys her family business, Diamond T Cattle Co., celebrating over 50 years in the seedstock business. What lights her fire the most is spending time with family and being a very active great Grandma fondly referred to as our "Gigi".
